In India, marriage is not just a social tradition—it’s a sacred ritual. However, for families living in poverty, the financial burden of a daughter’s wedding can be overwhelming. Recognizing this challenge, Nirmala Foundation has taken a compassionate step forward with its Kanyadaan & Poor Girls Marriage initiative.

Bridging Hope Through Kanyadaan

As a trusted NGO for poor girl marriage in Delhi, Nirmala Foundation works tirelessly to support the weddings of girls from economically weaker backgrounds. Our goal is not only to perform the ritual of Kanyadaan but also to ensure that these daughters begin their new lives with dignity and joy—without their families falling into debt.

What We Do

We identify families who are unable to afford the basic expenses of a marriage ceremony and offer them complete support—be it organizing the event, arranging for essential items, or providing financial assistance. Our team ensures that the ceremony is carried out with respect, care, and cultural integrity.

By supporting the wedding costs, we aim to:

  • Prevent financial distress and loans taken by poor families

  • Discourage dowry-related practices and exploitation

  • Reduce the chances of child marriage and early forced unions

  • Promote gender equality and social dignity

Why This Work Matters

For many underprivileged families, marrying off a daughter is not just a social duty—it can become a life crisis due to the expenses involved. Some families resort to unsafe or illegal means, while others delay the girl’s marriage indefinitely, affecting her emotional and social wellbeing.

Through our initiative, we ensure that poverty doesn’t come in the way of a girl's right to a safe and respectful marriage. Our efforts have helped numerous girls begin a new chapter in their lives with hope and happiness.
